Throwback Tunes is a special segment on BoomPopMedia where we will take a look at a classic song of some kind. Classic is defined loosely and is pretty much just whatever we feel like, but we’ll try to take a look at one of these songs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In the last edition of How To Draw Things, which was dedicated to Captain America, I made a reference to the song Places To Go by 50 Cent, because that’s just the kind of thing I do here. Here’s what I wrote:
It’s an excellent drawing and we only give you the best here at BPM. Except, of course, when we don’t. Sometimes we just don’t really feel like it, you know? I mean we’ve got things to do, places to go, people to see. The (BPM) penitentiary ain’t the place for me.
I feel like that’s as good of a justification as I’m going to get to add this to our Throwback Tunes segment, so I might as well run with it.
As I’ve mentioned before, “classic” is defined loosely and is pretty much just whatever we feel like, but my general rule is that the song has to be at least 10 years old. Well, guess what? The 8 Mile soundtrack came out over a decade ago in 2002, which makes Places To Go a classic, in my opinion. If I still feel the need to reference a song 12 years after it came out, I think the song has earned its spot in our Throwback Tunes collection.
