4 Reasons Why You Should Be Watching Broad City

When was the last time you laughed while watching TV? And no, Seinfeld and Fox News doesn’t count. For all that money you are paying the cable companies, shouldn’t you be enjoying it? The truth is you need something fresh. You need something real. You need Broad City. Here are 4 reasons why.

1. Cast and Producer

Let me do some quick math for you. [UCB] Alumni + Amy Poehler = can’t miss comedy.

If you don’t know what the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (UCB) is, then please educate yourself. Don’t worry. BPM will be right here; take your time.

Welcome back! If you don’t know who Amy Poehler is, put your technology away and go back to the rock you’ve been living under for last 15 years. If you do know who she is, then allow me to introduce two upcoming talents.

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer.

They are the stars of the show, and by stars I mean the uncomfortably on point girls that remind us of those hilarious, but awfully awkward moments in life. Figure out which one you have a crush on now. Trust me, it will save you a lot of sleep.

2. Origin Story

Origin Stories are everything. Michael Jackson wouldn’t be the same without the Jackson Five, Spiderman wouldn’t be swinging without general negligence, and Broad City wouldn’t be so amazing without starting out as a cult web series. Quick! Open a new tab and look up the Broad City Youtube channel. Still here? Fine… here’s a link.

Out of things to binge on with Netflix? You can thank me later. In the comments. Or with cake. Preferably rum cake.

3. Sense of Humor

Are you a person that needs a laugh track to know when something is funny? Of course not. In reality the laugh track lies. Those “funny” moments are kind of  depressing when you mute the “studio audience”. The good thing about Broad City is you always know when to laugh. Every joke is so rooted in reality that there is no need for cues.

Only sweet awkward looks.

4. Hannibal Buress

What can I say? He is one of the hottest upcoming comedic talents. And by hottest I mean most popular. But don’t get me wrong….

He is an expert at combining observational comedy with a complex social commentary. Don’t worry there are still poop jokes. Check him out on Twitter you will not regret it. His stand up is good too. He also has his own Comedy Central Show coming out. So yeah. If you don’t know, now you know Monica.
